List Of Seven Wonders Of The World (Ancient)
Blurb by ShaunOne of my slightly longer term ambitions is to visit the sites of the seven wonders of the ancient world. So far I’ve visited two of the seven ancient wonders of the world. I’ll be happy if I manage to get to travel to them all (for a start) in my lifetime.
I have set eyes on the wall of lofty Babylon on which is a road for chariots, and the statue of Zeus by the Alpheus, and the hanging gardens, and the colossus of the Sun, and the huge labour of the high pyramids, and the vast tomb of Mausolus; but when I saw the house of Artemis that mounted to the clouds, those other marvels lost their brilliancy, and I said, “Lo, apart from Olympus, the Sun never looked on aught so grand”.
7 Wonders Of The World
- Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (Turkey)

- Colossus of Rhodes (Greece)

- Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt)
- Lighthouse of Alexandria (Egypt)
- Hanging Gardens of Babylon (Iraq)
- Statue of Zeus at Olympia (Greece)
- Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus (Turkey)
Of course there’s only one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world still standing - the pyramid at Giza and (I think) I’m going to travel to Egypt next year to see it (and possibly the site of the Great Pharos Lighthouse) . The amount of times I have visited Turkey (about 4) I really should have visited Halicarnassus (at Bodrum I think) by now but I will definitely be back there.
Don’t know why I am fascinated by the 7 wonders of the world, but there you have it. Something to keep me busy…
