Decided To Buy Apple TV - Merry Xmas To Me!
Blurb by ShaunzoI’m sitting here with my new ‘Apple TV’ I bought myself for my xmas to integrate proudly with my Plasma TV , Itunes & my amazing Mac Book Pro. I thought about a new IPOD, or Iphone, but decided I wanted the ability to watch my movies while still use my computer and surf the net. My 3rd gen IPOD is still going strong after all these years, and my Nokia N95 is everything I need in a phone at the moment. Apple TV it was, then.
After reading some reviews on the Apple TV it was clear some are less than over the moon with it, because of lack of disk support and video support. Basically the hard drive (160GB) is still a bit small, but it can’t play AVI files for instance (basically my entire video collection). What is it? Apple TV is basically a big ipod - designed to do for video what the Ipod did for music.
But it does play MP4, so now I just need to convert my files, or get new rips.
At first I was a bit unsure exactly what it could do, but after playing about with it, found one of my ripped DVDs that I ripped to Mp4, and started streaming it to my LG 50PC55 50in HD Digital Plasma TV via my laptop.
So after 30 seconds, I now appear to be watching Die Hard 4 as it is streamed to my TV. The Apple TV is connected directly to my wireless router so i’m still on the net. The quality on my 50inch is excellent (for me) and there is no apparent issues. Sorted.
Now, to get everything on MP4.

I pretty good little device for the money. I use mine to mostly stream apple lossless from my office to my living room where I can site and listen to my music. Being able to stream almost HD from the Internet is a cool bonus feature.
