I wonder how many advertising agencies in the UK have first clue about seo, or internet marketing in general. How long will it take for traditional agencies to ‘get’ seo.

I left an advertising agency and set up Hobo because the focus was on press advertising and more traditional methods of print advertising. While there’s clearly still a need for traditional advertising, more agency resources should have been focused on internet marketing, whatever the risk at the time. I now work again with former employees of same ad agency at Hobo.

We’re about to launch a full advertising agency service, taking advantage of in-house experience and strategic partnerships. We do a lot of things for clients at the moment, who employed us to make websites and promote their businesses online.

I did a quick test with this blog, just to see if I could rank for terms like advertising agency scotland, advertising agency glasgow and you guessed it advertising agency edinburgh, just to see if ad agencies in Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland were crap at seo - at least as can be determined by looking at their corporate sites.

I would have expected the competition for such terms to be fierce, but apparently it’s not that fierce…. a few agencies are clearly letting their authority go to waste, because of poor on-site seo. This lets sites like mine with a trickle of trust get immediate rankings in the first few pages.

Can’t wait to use the Hobo site to start targeting agency terms. :)
